Somebody became a fan of $XX FREE GIFT CARD!

I'm sure you've seen 'em. Are they scams? Maybe they are. Maybe they're not. I'll tell you what they are for sure though: Data miners.

I can guarantee you that every single one of these "free gift card" pages are doing only one thing: stealing harvesting your data.

The steps are simple:

1. Pick something people like (free money, free coffee, free... free... free...)
2. Offer it up on a mass scale
3. Force users to do stuff (become a fan, invite all friends)
4. Once they're a fan, snag as much data as you can from the source and save it (email is worth gold)
5. Send out very few real "prizes" to create buzz.
6. Sell the ill gotten data for big bucks
7. Laugh as all the victims get spammed into the ground.
8. Repeat with something else that's awesome and free.

How can you tell? They're all the same. They're all the same basic template: header using some logo they're not authorized to use. The same three steps (become a fan, invite your friends, click claim!) with a comment box that's usually stuffed with fake comments.

Moral: DO NOT BECOME A FAN OF THESE PAGES. DO NOT INVITE YOUR FRIENDS. Capicé?

The dream I remembered from my slumber isn't that entertaining... just flat out strange and short.

I remember this: I was teaching a person that I went to elementary school with the "ins and outs" of styling a facebook application to look just like facebook itself.

That's it, that's all. The person was clear as day. Very strange.

It's amazing what iTunes feeds me when i put my library on shuffle. More diversity than [something clever and diverse that i can't think of].

This was last week:

Which is a completely different story when I actually select the things I want to hear; like these weeks:

And this week when i didn't listen to anything at all; except one album:

I call it the "not stuffing my fucking face like an idiot" diet.

It's pretty straight forward and easy to grasp. The key to the whole thing is not stuffing your face like an idiot.
