Which literally means “bread with tomato” has become one of my favourite things to eat.
It sounds too basic to belong to a national cusine but I didn’t experience it in this way until arriving in Catalonia. It wouldn’t be a surprise to find out it has everything to do with the quality of the tomatoes and oil.
They really make it their own.
Toast some slices of bread
Rub one half of a small “bloody” tomato evenly over one side of each slice
Sprinkle some salt and olive oil on top in that order.
