THE INCIDENT
An old(55yrs?) inebriated man, accosted me at work today. I was making the rounds for my 9:30 theatre checks, when I happened upon theatre number six(which was playing Big Fat Greek Wedding), which I noticed hadn't started playing yet(which seemed odd due to it's supposed 9:20 start time, until I remembered that Lori, the box office worker said there were no tickets sold for number 6, and in such a case no show is run). Just as I was walking in, this man(only him and his wife were in the theatre), he approached me, and this debacle is what ensued:
HIM : "Why hasn't the fucking movie started!!"(Distorted beat red look upon his face)"
CLITTY : " Uhm.. uh.. Can I see your ticket please?"
Note: It is customary to ask such a question in such a circumstance, considering the movie was not to be shown, as apparently no tickets had been sold for the movie.
HIM : " WHAT?!!?@ What are you ensuing? Are you fucking accusing us of something"
CLITTY : "No sir, I'd just like to see the showtime and theatre number of your ticket to ensure that you're in the proper theatre"
Note: At this point I noticed he had a horribly prolific alcholic stench about him and he tried to intimidate me by coming closer to me and forcing me up against the wall, I just stood my ground, what a fuck.
HIM : " You know what, we want a refund, FUCK FUCK!. You know what FUCK YOU, give us A FUCKING REFUND, I don't need your fucking excuses"
Note: Approaching me even more to a degree that I felt uncomfortable with.
His wife had all the while been searching through her purse in a dramatic fashion and was saying things such as "well, didn't we give it to that young man hun" and "Oh , where are they". All the while I noticed he had his hand in his pocket grasping something, which later turned out to be his tickets which he was concealing. If he had just shown me them, we all could have moved on.
He was consistantly swearing at me, and was very unnecessarily adversarial about the whole thing.
CLITTY: "Sir, I'm sorry, I wasn't ensuing anything. I only needed to see the showtime, because our computer has not registered any tickets as being sold for this showing, my manager had to turn the computer ticketing system off earlier, and it probably transferred the 2 tickets sold, to the earlier show. It's all just a mistake. If you want to sit down, we can start the movie very soon, I'm sorry". Note: All the while, his wife was desperately trying to put him at ease, but in his drunken neanderthal-like state, any intelligent, rational thought didn't seem to attach itself to him very well. He then started yelling at his wife, and to divert his unyielding rage away from her, I interjected with a nice
HIM : "Fuck this!!!!!!!, You were insinuating that we hadn't paid"
... "Sir, the movie will start shortly"
I left. As I resumed my normal position at the ushers podium, ripping tickets, everything seemed well and good. Until what my instincts told me would happen, did. As I leisurely glanced over in the direction of the back three theatres, I saw the man and his wife coming in my direction.
HIM : " I thought you were going to start the fuckin' movie?"
CLITTY : "I'm sorry sir, the projectionist is starting it now, if you want you can go sit down and it will start shortly"
HIM : " NO, FUCK THIS, WE JUST WANT A REFUND. GIVE IT TO US FUCKIN NOW, WE WANT A REFUND, I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR LIES"
Note : His wife was trying to convince him otherwise
CLITTY : "Sir, the movie is about to start, but if you're still unsatisfied, you can go to the box office and see about getting a refund"
Then he went and became inflammatory to Lori, being unecessarily rude to her, and tripping over his own horrible use of the English language, all the while slurring his words and constantly using the word "fuck" as if it were a sword which he brandished to showcase all of his might, causing the people around him to cower into submission and follow his every whim!(hehehe).
Later on, my manager told me that as he attempted to verbally lash Lori as well, his wife was looking at her with a sad look on her face while she whispered apologies. To top it off, he through the refund slip back at Lori and refused to sign it while storming out. Such a very couth man, he was.THE AFTERMATH
He said fuck, ten or more times during our 35 second interaction in theatre number six. He repeated it many more times while out in the main lobby area. He humiliated his poor wife
What was he bitching about?
The fact that his movie was to have started ten minutes late, because of a simple mistake. As well as the fact that I simply asked to see his ticket to ensure that he was in the proper theater. It IS my perrogative, seeing as I am the lead usher and I represent the "Theatre" as a private entity that has the right to impose rules, restrictions and guidelines upon those who accept them(anyone who purchases a ticket). Though, NO, asking him to see his ticket, was an apparent affront to his dignity and his honour. His attempts to intimidate me failed, however I did feel threatened and feared that I would have to engage myself in a physical confrontation with him, because he was increasingly agressive towards me. I wanted to knock him out and he hadn't actually touched me yet. If it weren't for his poor wife having to put up and apologize for him, I feel as if his attention would have solely been placed on me, causing him to be even more violent.
I hate to surmise about the private lives and issues of others, but I feels as if this is something out of a movie where the woman went home and killed herself later that evening. After a life time of aggravation and hopelessness, all she wanted to do was spend a lovely evening with her ungrateful hubby, and it was ruined by him.
Put a bullet in her head
Goddamn old fuck alcoholic guys....
I could see the look in her eyes, she felt like one of those women who is subjected to that kind of shit all the time, because I know the way my mother used to look before she felt confident enough to toss my father out by his nutsack/entrails/whathaveyou
Note : He used the phrase "He was insinuating that we didn't pay to get in" in all actuality about, ten times during the event. What a basket case. He litterally went CRAZY, flipped his LID, went NUTS, etc. as soon as I asked to see the tickets. What a reactionary freak. Everything could have been fine if he wasn't such a basket case.

I don't know where to start, but I do know when, and sadly that is later; I have a lot of dishes to do while my laundry is being done and then I have to go to work all day long where I'd then go to my night classes (karate/jujitsu/krav maga) and then come home to write a ranting reponse (yes another), but as I DAMAGED MY TOE yesterday, nicely I might add too and not while at the dojo (how typical), I will be able to make a reply later tonight some time during the evening when I'm not on the phone returning phone calls and calling others who are sorely overdue in being called.

Think about how evident this guy's problems were. And how they have clearly affected his life.
What's really scary is when these sorts of problems are not so evident. Then, their victims are not quite sure what is affecting them so, or "rationalize" through their sick, twisted behavior. At least this fart had the courtesy to be plainly agressive. There are plenty among us who hide their aggression, but seek the same end regardless.
I have accepted as my responsibility, among others, the just treatment of all people, and the extirpation of all aggression and anger in everyday human interactions, excepting certain extenuating circumstances.
On another note, I'm sorry that you (Clitty) had to experience this. Not only does it suck, in the sense that we often like to see our workdays pass without someone choking on their own life force, but I know that it would have affected me in a profoundly personal way. That is, being backed into a corner to the point where I begin to think about inflicting physical harm upon another, and simultaneously looking into the eyes of the woman who spends her nights next to this lunatic, would probably lead to a terrible explosion. And thus, I applaud your ability to remain cool and "do the right thing." If that crazy had 1/88th of your control and compassion, well, he'd be a whole heckuva lot closer to having his shit together. Godspeed.

I think that every now and then, it's helpful to lament the sadness that people bring to their own lives and to each others'. I dunno about you, though, but for me, I'm forced to contemplate this crap far, far too often. It's depressing, how pathetic people can be.

How can you stay so calm, I mean I've been stuck in messed situations with customers, but not like that. You must get alot of drunks in the theater, because before they see the movie we get the first at our store. ahaha.
