Driving

I apologize in advance to any of you who actually have your license and actually deserved to get it, but man, who the hell taught all these idiots to drive, and further more, who the hell PASSED them??
The reason I am writing this is because it was pissing rain here last night, and I had to drive my stepson to his mothers. No big deal... its just ALL THE WAY across town, but hey it should only take about 30 minutes. Ok fine. So we start out and the first problem we have is the fact that MY CITY SUCKS and none of the streets drain properly, so I am driving through rivers. Ok, I can handle that, until some moron in a POC car drives by me at 90 KPH, and sprays water all over my car. I can't see, my brakes are soaked, and my step-son is in real danger 'cause I can't see oncoming traffic, and I also can't stop. Fortunately, we live through this one.
About 10 minutes later, some guy coming towards me in the other lane decides he doesn't like his lane anymore, and decides he wants to come join me in my lane. Now there is a car on the OTHER side of me, so I can't even move over to avoid him. Now the car on my right side HAS to be able to see this guy moving into my lane, but does he speed up or slow down so I can get out of the way? No! He stays RIGHT beside me so that I can't move. At this point I am thinking about slamming on my brakes (which are now dry enough to work) and giving givin' her in reverse. I am just about to do this, when HEY! the guy behind the steering wheel wakes up, and moves back into his lane. (How he could stay asleep/dazed with all the honking I was doing I don't really know)
Now, other than to rant, there isn't much point to this article other than to tell people to FREAKING be careful when driving in bad weather. There are some people who have CHILDREN in their cars.
There are some other things that annoy me as well, and what better time to bring them up.
#1) People who SLOW DOWN for green lights.
#2) People who SPEED UP for red lights.
#3) People who don't use turn signals.
#4) People who don't know how to turn their signals OFF.
#5) People who use their turn signals at the LAST possible moment, and slam on their brakes doing 50 KPH, 3 feet in front of you.
#6) Pretty much any idiot driver.
Well that's it for me anyways.
Thanks for listening to me rant.

The drivers here suck also...they're primarily a bunch of rich fobs, who haven't had their licence for a week - usually taxi drivers - and who think that I'm a good target when crossing the road when *I've* got the friggin' walk sign. I've almost been hit in that manner at least ten times, and probably more, because some idiots just don't seem to see me even when I stop and make sure that they can.
Hee hee...my dad usually doesn't use his turn signals...drives me nuts, because then he's always bugging me about how badly I drive (I do need lessons, but I'm not that bad)...and always saying how I curb the farking truck...it's a damn big truck. He's six two and three quarters...I'm five one. Namely, my dad can SEE the end of the friggin' truck, and I can't. Mum's actually backed into people that she couldn't see (damn compact cars) that were right behind her in the parking lot...
Bah...most people couldn't drive if their lives depended on it. I counted at least three occasions driving through Quebec alone where we almost died this summer because the imbiciles hadn't figured out that you DO NOT suddenly decided that you want to be in the middle lane when there isn't enough space for you to fit, and there's a farking 1988 suburban barreling down the highway at you. Coincidently, being driven by my dad, to whom speedlimits are only meaningful if there's cops about.
Bah...he's not too bad...at least he doesn't throw temper tantrums if someone cuts him off...large ones, anyway >:)

Hehe, yeah my dad is like that with speed limits too. They don't even matter when cops are around sometimes :) He's a horrible driver. He has had his licence pulls like a million times. I used to be a bad driver, then I started driving with a kid in the car. Let me tell you, that TOTALLY changes the way you drive. I have been on the pedestian side of it too. I have been hit 4 times by cars, 1 time by a truck, and almost hit by a bus. The only major accident was once by a car where the driver was on a cell phone, turning right on a red light, and didn't see me crossing with THE RIGHT OF WAY and smashed my knee cap. And then he drove away, so I could not even sue him to pay for the surgery :( So now my knee is screwed for life.
I think the worst though has to be my one major car accident, where I was at a dead stop, all the cars in front of me were at a dead stop, and some guy rear ended me going 80 KPH in a 60 zone. He hit me so hard he totalled the back of my car, and pushed me into the car in front of me, and I totalled the FRONT of my car.
God that sucked.

Before we knew that Babbles don't retain HTML code, we all tried doing something along those lines too so don't feel too embarassed Sara. That'll come later. Ask Ako how he was greeted when he first started babbling responses!

I don't remember the exact statistics, but something like 70% of people consider themselves to be "above-average" drivers. You do the math...

Your concern for children is both rare and commendable. :)
