The Night Just Past

As it seems tonight was 'interesting'. Conor and myself went to the pub with the intention of drinking ourselves stupid, but we met up with a girl that Conor knew from his past. Apparently a girl I also knew, but couldn't quite remember.

I've always been fond of meeting people I once knew, but not really knew. It's interesting to go play the "hey, I've seen you before" game. That's what made tonight interesting.

Apparently this girl, although I'm drunk, I think her name was Alice, maybe Alison, but I'm pretty sure Alice, was a girl that rode the train from toronto to brantford with me nightly way back in 1999/2000. Well, pity my poor soul, if her name wasn't Stephanie, Shannon, Marianne or Kathy, chances are I'd forgotten them. Her included. But that didn't seem to matter.

Our cumulative conversations included travels around Canada, beer, books, and a bit of music. It was quite interesting to "randomly" meet someone, someone I perhaps once knew. Only a different time, location.

This new-found Pagan, hippy-type girl was interesting, I found myself fond of her. As the cheezy cover band played their last song I found myself pulled on to the limited dance floor, only to "bust a move" in my obscure, rhytmicaly challenged methods. I was more allured to her; my ulterior motives were kicking in. Conor had bailed slightly before the last song. But not before I had purchased her a drink. I would proceed to walk her 20 minutes out of my way, passed the trainstation, down the long downtown streets of brantford, to her home. Hoping for something, a small token.

Gratitude was the result, a thank you, a great appreciation for the things done. That was my reward, that was what I wanted.
