Help Me Use my USB Stick

The story is simple, I got a free 512MB USB key/stick thing that I'd like to use, because hey, it's handy. However, here's the catch: It was a freebie and there's junk on it.
When the key is inserted my computer detects it as two drives. A CDROM (bogus!) As well as a regular flash drive with 470MB free space.
Now, as much as I appreciate the free stuff that was sent on it, and the information from the company doing it's little marketing thing after inserting this thing a few times it gets _really_ annoying to have this unusable and useless "CDROM" show up.
So, I want to get rid of it... Below is some details of the actual device courtesy of the program 'lsusb' - If you have any ideas drop a message. I'm interested in seeing if it's possible. I've checked partitions and I've tried a few other small things but I think it's more a long the lines of actually reprogramming the controller chip on the stick itself, which will probably be ugly.
Anyways, here's the output:

I would like to know what you have actually tried to do thus far before I lend my advice.
Thanks! :) And no the answer isn't 12! And if it were twelve it would be the square root of it ... blah.
No seriously, what have you tried to do...I know a nerd.

I plugged it in, I looked at it.
I believe I stated what happens and that I checked partitioning, and that I believe the controller chip needs to be reprogrammed.
