Don't Use UPS

Well, today I'm here on official company business. Lacking a forum of my own with nearly as impressive a readership, I am, at the mercy and permission of the great Ssa, using PoC to badmouth, smear, attack, bash and otherwise put down the evil corporate entity that is UPS.
My company had an account with them for many years. One bill they sent us in the mail never made it, we didn't know it needed to be paid, and they sent us to collection. Before we found out that the bill was in collection, we finally found out about the overdue invoice and paid UPS directly. Problem solved, right? NO! We called to schedule a pickup, and discovered our account was on credit hold. Hang up, call the credit department, leave a message, wait three days, call back, leave another message, wait some more days, and eventually someone feels like talking to us. They give us the number for the collection agency. Hang up, call the collection agency, the collection agency has never heard of us, our file, or our account number. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Eventually, our company went out of business, and we formed another. I called UPS to set up a new account. The attendant put me on hold "just for a second" after listening to my request. Then, after half an hour of waiting, their system hung up on me, and I had to start again. Now I'm late for an appointment, with a shipment that needs to go out that day. Finally, I call back again and get through to someone, and they set me up an account. Our shipment is cancelled and we never use it. Today, I call back to send a shipment, and I'm told that I can't use my brand new, never before used account, because it's on credit hold. I asked them why, but they would not tell me. They want me to call the credit department and wait for days like last time, to eventually be screwed around and left high and dry. Meanwhile, my shipment has to go out today.
The moral of the story? I called FedEx, and that's what you should do too.

Rogers uses UPS... and I've heard of nothign but problems. We used Purolator beforehand, and never heard a complaint.
Welcome to the world of the lowest bidder.

FedEx rules.
UPS's Software packages on their own computers (not the www stuff), munches on FedEx for breakfast save for the server-side of things.
UPS blows.
Of course, there is the one picture even FedEx employees put up on their backgrounds: 302 Found

UPS Sucks.
I've never received more banged up boxes (no pun) from a single courier than them.
I've also never been raped for a cross-boarder shipment as much as them. ($44 "Broker" fee just to get something, hello, fuck you?)
I like Purolator, and when given the chance I usually choose them.

i've had bad experiences with purolator too. mind you, i've also had good experiences with ups. overall, though, i was "fed up" (hehe, i love that picture) enough with both of them to switch.
besides, i've never seen anyone other than fedex pull the trick where they walk through the door as you're hanging up the telephone to schedule the pickup with the automated service. fedex, however, i have seen do that, and i was freaking impressed, i can tell you.

You know what is funny. It's only a matter of time before we have everything in the world boycotted between all of us. Internet providers, phone companys, the postal service, now UPS. Next restuarants and what not...let us go forth and conquer the world.

everyone here seems to think that fedex has the best software for courier companies... well try shipping on fedex ground, the only to get fedex ground to pick up your packages is if you are a business account holder, and you either have labels printed off fedex.com (which is annoying to use) or if you have preprinted labels that take about 2 weeks to be preprinted by fedex. if the fedex ground courier comes for pick up, and you dont have your labels ready, he will refuse your packages. if you dont have a business account, or you dont have labels you have to drop off your packages at a fedex station. not exactly the most convenient service. go with ups

FedEx, incidentally, were extremely good. I set up my account online in about 150 seconds, and and pickup was scheduled not much after that. They showed up a whopping one minute after the earliest time they said they'd be here, with all the supplies we needed, etc.
