I don't know if any of you ever had Mrs. Malcolm as a teacher at BCI before but for those of you to whom this applies, if you haven't heard, she just passed away (yesterday?). The only reason why I'm posting this is that she's one of the 2 most important people from BCI as regards leading down this ancient history path and her 1 course was probably the most interesting one that I had. So, I can't say that I'm not a bit shaken up by this. If only more teachers could have been, or would/will be, as engaging as she was.

Yeah, I didn't have her at all either. I was wondering who did, now i know. And, I'm actually surprised Conor heard same day way over there.

She was a great teacher. I had her for home room in grade 11. Her history class was one of the best classes I ever took.

Looks like something is going around cause my granny died yesterday morning. I had hoped that she would be around long enough for my kids to remember her when they were older. Looks like that isn't going to happen.
Sorry to those of you who knew that teacher.

Thunder, sorry to hear about your granny.
Also, on another note, I'm a huge idiot and I feel sick about it. I was thinking last night about funerals, and about how it was sad that this teacher died, and that got me to thinking about all the great teachers I've had, and the one whose name I could never remember, who taught me ancient civ. Of course, it was Mrs. Malcolm. I realized this and felt so awful. I didn't forget her, but I'm horrible with names... anyway, she was an excellent teacher, and I should have been at the funeral. I wonder at myself sometimes.

My condolences, thunder. :)
I also had Mrs. Malcolm. I took enriched English in grade 9, and also had a brief stint in grade 11 Ancient Civ. before deciding that I'd rather have a lunch period that year. It was a fascinating course though, and if it weren't for the fact that I often found myself nearly in insulin shock by the time my day was over, I would have loved to keep it. She always seemed a bit flaky to me, and I think we had a personality conflict of sorts, but she was a good teacher. I'm sorry to hear of this...

She was more than a bit flaky, but that was one of the reasons she was good! It meant she wasn't a hard-ass like most other teachers.

And further, she was in a serious car crash on the 16th (one of many heavy fog days) she spent the last 12 days in intensive care (in Hamilton).
The guy who hit her has been charged with careless driving.
Memorial service is on Thursday (I forget where, so that info really does no good)
