Today in Canada, among other places, is Remembrance day. It's vital to remember the past.

I have to say that I was brought up to believe that war was wrong, and that I should not participate in anything that had to do with war. As such I never learned much of went on in the past until recently.
In the past few years I have devoted a lot of my time to learning of the atrocities the human race can commit on itself, as well as some of the triumphs over them. While I am not one to condone violence I have come to the realization that war, or conflict in general, is an inevitable part of ourselves. I have also come to truly respect the sacrifices that the men and women of the last century have made, and the shortcomings that we still have when tyrants rein and we do nothing.
I respect and support our veterans with all of mt heart, and should the need arise would enlist to save my country. That's if they'd take a nearly-30 out of shape nerd who's starting to grow a beer gut. This support is not unconditional though, since I still believe that some of the things we are fighting for are wrong, and some things we're not fighting for should get more attention.

You filthy warmonger!
Sorry about that. I have moments now and then where I think I'm a spoiled, coddled, head-up-the-ass hippie with no sense of what the world is really like. Sadly, I'm not the only person who experiences this. Worse yet, for most others it is a permanent condition.
