Look out Canada, Here Comes the DCMA!

The Industry Minister of Canada, the (Dis)honoable Jim Prentice, is about to announce the Canadian version of the DCMA (That's the digital millennium copyright act - a US law that's only ever benefit the big-guns at the MPAA and RIAA)
But, as those dudes over at boingboing state:
Industry Canada Minister Jim Prentice is about to introduce his Canadian version of America's disastrous Digital Millennium Copyright Act tomorrow. In so doing, he is violating his own party's promise to seek public consultation on all treaty accession bills, he's ignoring the cries of rightsholders, industry, educators, artists, librarians, citizens' rights groups, legal scholars and pretty much everyone with a stake in this, except the US Trade Representative and the US Ambassador, who, apparently, have had ample opportunity to chat with the Minister and give him his marching orders.
Jim Prentice, You're an asshole. P.S. I checked, that's not libel, because it's a clearly fact.

That is incredibly lame.
How the hell do they expect to track/prosecute every single person who has ever shared a file online? How the hell do they expect to PAY to track/prosecute every single person who has ever shared a file online?
They can all suck my nonexistent man parts.

Well, if you follow the history of cases in the USA, they do a whole bunch of entrapment-type things to catch users, then they sue the snot out of them. Single moms, grandparents, children, people without computers. It's an extremely accurate process and they're really smart about it all too.

Oh, well. That's alright then. Everyone knows single moms and grandmas are out to get us. Hell, they're the reason we have music pirating at all. It's all their fault. And communists. Them too.

Controversial copyright reform to be unveiled Thursday
-- some details as to what it entails, mainly of note to probably everybody who reads this: -- "Making it illegal to unlock cellphones or copy music from protected CDs to iPods" and "A $500 fine for each illegal file shared online"
I can't wait to see how they define an "illegal file"
Here's what I see this law doing: 1) death of CDs completely, explosion of digital downloads (legal from iTunes, amazon, wherever) 2) sneaker net, memory sticks, etc exploding for sharing purposes.
My favorite in all of this though, is how do you ever really prove a file is "illegal"? If you looked at my iTunes right now you'd see 16gb of music, 2400+ tracks.. how many did I buy? How many did I rip from non-protected CDs that I own? How may did I buy from non-iTunes vendors? You have no idea, because I only buy DRM Free tracks and they play on everything and most of them are untagged.
I also found this, Canadian Coalition for Electronic Rights ยป Send A Letter To Harper, Prentice & Verner And Stop The Canadian DMCA but I have my doubts that they'll care about the number of people who submit an email.
