I want to slit my throat

I'm working on a site that has a pretty simple auto-complete feature for one of the form text boxes. There is a div that contains the dropdown list and for various reasons it was convenient for me to have it dynamically positioned relative to the relevant text box upon page load or window resize.

The XHTML validator found a few bugs in my code; I fixed them, and now it validates. So? I've tested this thing in Firefox 3 (Win2k, WinXP and Ubuntu 8.04), IE 6 (Win2k), IE 7 (WinXP), Google Chrome (WinXP), Safari 3.2 (WinXP), and Opera 9.63 (WinXP). One of those didn't work properly...

It was IE 7. Yes that's right, they had the damn thing working and then they broke it with a subsequent release. And with that, I'm off to explore other options. Growl...
